Flora Singer Science and Engineering Fair
Register to participate.
All young scientists and engineers wishing to display a project at the Fair need to register and have the permission form signed. Register by Sunday, March 5 in order to be guaranteed a T-shirt! Final registration must be received by Friday, March 10, 2023. Registration and Permission forms can be submitted online through this online form.
Project general guidelines.
Projects should be student driven. Parent guidance is encouraged; however, parents should use their best judgment in deciding when to get involved. It is important that the kids be able to call the project their own. Students may work on their project independently, or in a small group (max 3-4 students). Families who would appreciate their child doing the project after school should stay tuned for details on S.T.E.M camp or email sciencefair@singerpta.org for more information. Need help choosing a topic?
When it comes to choosing a topic, the sky is the limit. The best topics come from your own genuine curiosity about how something works or why something is the way it is. If you have trouble thinking of something on your own, the Internet is full of resources to help you choose a topic. Make sure to check out the Official Handbook available in ENGLISH and SPANISH for resources of topics.
Judging and awards.
Our science and engineering fair is non-competitive. Our goal is to encourage scientific and technological exploration and discovery and promote a deep lifelong passion for science and technology. Each participant will have an opportunity to briefly present their project to an expert and receive a participation certificate. A schedule with presentation times will be made available on the day of the fair.
Volunteers needed!
A big event like the science fair wouldn't be possible without the help of numerous volunteers. If you can spare an hour or two on the day of the fair, we would love your help. We will be looking for experts to listen to participants' presentations, S.T.E.M. vendors to set up activities or tables at the fair, folks to sell snacks, help with registration or set up, etc. Please sign up to volunteer HERE
